THE PLANTS

Inspired by the planting of a forest in Future Library, we decided to each plant a new houseplant at the beginning of our process. We chose Epipremnum Aureum for its fast growth. The last known spontaneous flowering of the plant was in 1964, but in February 2021 when our process began, a naturally occurring cluster of four flowers was discovered in a tree canopy on an old vine in South Florida.

We've also been documenting the growth and decay of other plants, as part of our interest in entropy. It's also been interesting to observe the varying durations of nature's cycles, and how they coincide with the duration of our process.
